Aria In Partnership With Primary School

Residents from Aria Care Home have been enjoying quality time with the children of Malpas Court Primary School recently, with weekly visits to the school in a new partnership with the Care Home.

The special relationship between the youngest and oldest members of our society has been well highlighted recently, following the Channel 4 show Old People’s Home earlier this summer. Children have a wonderful positive impact on the elderly, and in particular people living with Dementia.

The residents of Aria spend time playing games with the children, as well as working together on tasks which have most recently included helping the kids decorate their Christmas tree – a favour returned by the school as the pupils made and decorated a tree for the residents to take back to Aria.

“Seeing the energy and joy that the pupils of Malpas Court bring to our residents highlights the incredible gift that children give to all of us, probably none more so than for the elderly,” said Keyly Scott, Care Manager of Aria Care Home. “Our residents have a youthful spirit and these fantastic children share in their desire to simply have fun. Despite the age difference, nothing seems more natural than seeing young children and the elderly engage with one another. We’re really grateful to the school for their wonderful support”

Plans are to continue this relationship on a permanent basis, with further opportunities for the children and residents to be explored.
